Have you ever wondered how the recent hurricanes have affected the area beaches?
Come join us as our speaker illustrates the changes to North Beach at Fort DeSoto Park over the past decade, including the effects of recent hurricanes. Learn how it originally formed, the plants and animals it supports, as well as its ecological and economic importance.

Speaker Bio:
Nichol Sr. is a Professor of Natural Science at St. Petersburg College. His specialty is marine biology, and he is an accomplished diver and underwater photographer. He is a panel member of the International Ocean Institute’s Waves of Change ocean initiative, where he studies ocean acidification. He earned his M.A. in Oceanography and Marine Biology from Western Connecticut State University.
